Try This *Awesome* Passive Income Idea for Health Coaches
What if I told you that you can earn extra income in your health coaching business without putting in crazy hours? Too good to be true?
It’s doable – and it’s a smart strategy.
In this post, I’ll teach you how to make some extra cash with affiliate marketing so you can fill in the gaps, enjoy some downtime and keep your business growing.
How affiliate marketing works for health coaches
Affiliate marketing is different from direct sales or multilevel marketing– there’s no financial investment, and there generally aren’t required sales targets or commitments.
This means you can still focus primarily on your health coaching business.
I’ve worked as an affiliate with Annmarie Skincare for over a decade and it’s worked really well for me, so I’ll use them as an example.
Remember that the specifics of each affiliate program are a little different but the basic idea is the same. Here’s how to do it…
First, love the product.
I started working with Annmarie because I really love the products– and you can do this with whatever products you love and recommend.
Don’t just try to sell stuff for the sake of selling stuff. If you’re already telling your clients about a product that you think will help them, see if they have an affiliate program. That’s a great place to start.
You can be an affiliate for as many companies as you want, so don’t be afraid to cast a wide net. Beauty products. Food products. Kitchen tools. You name it.
If it’s something you already talk about a lot, see if you can turn it into an income stream.
Then, sign up.
When a brand offers an affiliate program, you can usually find the info in the footer at the bottom of their website.
The affiliate page will tell you who they work with – Annmarie, for example, works with “anyone with a health, wellness or beauty related website and social media audience.”
Some brands require a certain number of followers or other criteria, so read the fine print. If you think it’s a good fit, you’ll need to provide some basic information about yourself so they can vet you.
After you apply, it can take a few days or weeks for them to review and get back to you.
Next, share your link.
Once you’re approved as an affiliate, you’ll get a unique link to share that will track your referrals. When you tell someone about the product, you give them your link.
When someone buys through your link, their price doesn’t change but you earn a commission. That means it’s important that they use your link (otherwise, you won’t get credit!)
Now track your sales and get paid!
Different brands pay different rates of commission – it could be 5-10% or as much as 50%. With Annmarie, the commission is 25%.
And the time period you get credit for varies, too– for some companies, you get credit for anything the customer buys in 30 days. Annmarie’s is a super-awesome six months.
Most companies have an affiliate dashboard where you can see how you’re doing. This will help you see what’s working and what’s not. You can also see what your earnings are and when you’ll get paid.
Then, you’ll get your commission paid on whatever schedule the company uses
– Annmarie pays out monthly.
Yes, it’s that easy!
Want to try it out?
I love Annmarie Skincare if that isn’t already very obvious. Maybe you want to try out their products and consider becoming an affiliate too? Go to HealthCoachPower.com/skincare to get a trial size of 4 amazing products for $19.99, and if you love it, maybe you want to sign up too (that’s my affiliate link! See what I did there?).
To be fully transparent – I will earn my usual commission if you buy the products, but I don’t get anything if you become an affiliate. I just genuinely think they’re a great company to work with.
So give it a try. Affiliate marketing is not a get-rich-quick scheme – but if you’re consistently sharing your link and supporting your clients, you’ll support your bottom line, too.

Oh goodness, hello there Health Coaches. I just realized that the volume on my computer was still on, which means a lot of extra noise in the background for a moment. Hopefully we're good now. I looked in the mirror today as I was getting ready to come on screen for this live and I was like, you know what? My hair has been in braids for like two or three weeks straight at this point, and that means that's a very good sign and I'll tell you what the other sign is. That's a very good sign that it must be summer. Yeah. Anybody else? Here's the other way that you know your coconut oil is no longer in solid form. Yeah, those are the two indicators. I don't need anybody to tell me when summer is. That's how I know. So we just went through the Long Memorial Day weekend.
I had my kids. We spent a lot of time by the water and in the sunshine. It was absolutely gorgeous here in New York. Felt so wonderful. And today I thought I would share a way for you to earn income with your health coaching business in a way that doesn't require a lot of work hours, something that might make sense for the summer or to fill in the gaps between your other income streams. This episode is brought to you by practice Better. My favorite client management tool. Go try any of their plans for free for 14 days at healthcoachpower.com/pb. You want to use that link and you'll save 30% off your first three months with code HCP30.
Now, on last week's episode, I don't know if you heard that one. If not, go back because I was talking about the many ways that health coaches can make money and one of them is to sell a product. Now, is anybody here already involved with selling a product already involved with any type of passive income streams? I'd love to know about it in the comments. If you're here on Facebook, if you're here on Instagram, sometimes when you're going to sell a product, it can mean that you're investing upfront to buy the product or a certain amount of the product or committing to sell a certain amount per month. Now for me personally, I've never been interested in getting that tied up with another business while also trying to run my own. But I love being able to refer friends and clients to the brands that I love and the things that I know they're going to like too. I'm doing it anyway, right? People are always asking for recommendations. I'm sure you're telling people about your favorite brand of certain kind of food or where you order your vegetables from, et cetera. So why not do that and earn a commission, especially if you can do it with no strings attached. So, this is called affiliate marketing. This is totally different than multi-level marketing, just to be super duper clear.
I'll explain. With affiliate marketing, you are not joining a team. You will not have like an upline or a downline or whatever they call it. You don't have to pay a dime to get started. You don't have to be constantly hawking a brand, just when it makes sense for you and you don't have to be exclusive. You could be an affiliate for lots of different brands. So today I want to introduce you to my longest running affiliate relationship and tell you how it works and I'm going to be totally transparent. I get nothing zip zilch if you end up becoming an affiliate for them too. That's not my motive today. There is no, like I said, there's no upline downline thing going on here. I do not get 10% of your sales or anything like that at all. I am sharing this opportunity because I think it is a smart one for health coaches and also I think it's a good product.
I've been an affiliate with Annemarie's Skincare for over a decade. Any Annemarie lovers in the house usually we have a few. It's a brand that help coaches really love. I've been using their products for over 10 years. I love them. But again, you can be an affiliate for lots of different brands out there. I've done this with, oh gosh, different products, different services. My water filter down in my kitchen right now. I used to be an affiliate for them. Stay with me today. Learn how the process works, and then what you can do is go apply it to the brands and the products that you love and you're always talking about and you're always referring people to them anyway. Or you might end up wanting to try Annemarie's Wildcrafted products. They are made with organic ingredients. I am telling you, it is like a health coach dream come true.
We love this stuff. So I have actually worked with them to put together a special summer trial package for you if you want just to try it before you decide if you want to be an affiliate for them. So for $19 one, nine $19, I'm getting you some of their best products, including a sunscreen, which you could try out over the summer. It's all at healthcoachpower.com/skincare. I'm going to put that link over here on our Facebook group real quick so you can check that out, and I'm going to give you more details on that offer in just a little bit. Now, let's talk about affiliate programs in general, every affiliate program is different. The way that a company decides to offer an affiliate program varies from one company to the next. So what I share today is going to be specific to annemarie's Skincare, but I think it's going to serve as a good example for how most good affiliate programs are run. So the very first step, we've already talked about it, you got to love the product. It's got to be something that you're already telling people about, right? We're not just trying to sell stuff for the sake of selling stuff, but if you're already telling your clients about a certain thing that you buy that you love, that you've used, it's going to help them too that that's where you want to be with this. You want to be really aligned with your values. You like something, you're talking about it anyway, done.
Now, like I said, I've used Anne-Marie products for years. Now, if you like my skin, then maybe you want to try them out too. So that's first. Second, you have to go sign up as an affiliate with each company. When a brand offers an affiliate program like this, the link to join, it's usually all the way down at the bottom of their website if you scroll all the way down. So if you go to that link that I gave you, just a moment to go, that was healthcoachpower.com/skincare. You'll see the offer that I talked about.
But then scroll, scroll all the way to the footer, and you're going to see a link that says affiliates. So click there if you want to become an affiliate or when you decide if that's something you want to do, and again, this is true for other brands as well, they usually have it in their footer. Not always, but usually when you go to annemarie's affiliate page, it says that this is for anyone with a health, wellness or beauty related website and social media audience that's welcome to apply for an influencer account. Some companies have different, you know, have to meet certain qualifications. You have to have this many people like all these requirements. So each brand again, is going to vary. The point is they just want to know that A) you're not spammy and weird, and B) they want to know that you have an audience because if you don't have an audience, then you're not going to be making too many referrals or too many sales.
So, they might ask about your mailing list. In this case, I don't see them giving a minimum. They're not saying you have to have X number of people on your mailing list in order to qualify. So even if your audience is small, I say, go ahead and apply anyway. Now, once approved, and this usually takes a couple of days a week, something like that, you will get a unique link that tracks sales to your affiliate account. And that means when you tell someone about this brand that you love, you're going to give them your unique affiliate link. The price for the customer is always going to stay the same, but if they clicked your link, then you're going to earn a commission on that sale and for future sales, we'll talk about that in a second, but if they do not click that link, then there's no way for the sale to be tracked to you, right? This is all getting recorded on the back end, all fancy internet computer style. So it's very important when you get that affiliate link to use it and make it easy for somebody to actually use. Now, the link that I gave you earlier, that is my affiliate link for Annemarie Skincare. Full transparency, of course, you don't have to buy anything. It's just there if you want to try Annemarie's summer products for that $19 deal, you'd go to healthcoachpower.com/skincare.
Now, I'm making it easy, if you notice, because I've turned it into a pretty link, health coach power.com/skincare looks a whole lot better, and it's a whole lot easier to remember than a long, you'll see these affiliate links sometimes are very long. They have a lot of digits, a lot of numbers and letters. So one way of making it easy, this is a pro tip, is to turn it into a shorter, easier to remember link. Okay, there you go. Went on a little tangent there, but I think that's very important when we're talking about affiliate stuff. Now, like I mentioned, you're going to get a commission on your sales when you are referring people to another product with Anne-Marie, the commission is 25%. Sometimes you'll see 10%, sometimes it'll be more, sometimes it's like 50%.
And so the brands definitely vary on what the commission is. Also, sometimes you get the commission on anything that somebody purchases with your link within 30 days. Sometimes it's 90 days. I'm noticing that Anne-Marie tracks orders actually for an entire six months. So after somebody use your link, you will continue to get credit for anything that they buy over those next six months. So that is pretty great. They are a fantastic affiliate program, and I'm saying that cause I've been involved with so many and I can compare one against the other. For example, Andrea and Rachel are in charge of making sure the affiliate program runs really smoothly with Annemarie's Skincare, and I've never known the team at any other company. I've never known that they even had a team like that. So here's what's going to happen. You will get an affiliate link for any unit, whatever company you decide to be an affiliate with.
And with Annemarie Skincare and with many of these, they will have an affiliate dashboard where you can log in and that's cool because you can see is anybody buying? Does anybody care about this product? Sometimes I've been an affiliate for a product and then I go look and it get, oh, it got zero clicks. Nobody cares, nobody likes this. I remember I was trying to do something, well, it's not exactly an affiliate program, but those refer friend programs. I was doing that with Misfits Market for a while, and even though I thought Misfits Market was a really great deal on organic veggies, apparently my audience at the time didn't because no links, no sales, tried it a whole bunch of times, never went anywhere. So, that's helpful cause then you could go, okay, my people are not interested in this, but when I log into my Annemarie skincare dashboard, I'm like, oh my goodness, look at all these sales. Look at all these repeat customers. Look how many clicks that link got. So I know there's interest. It's something that's worth me putting my attention on. So it's very helpful when they have a dashboard like that. You can see where your earnings are, you can see when your next payout will be. And while not every affiliate program offers a dashboard like that, I will tell you the good ones.
Do you know the good ones? The ones that have people who are actually running the program where you can ask questions to the ones that feel like you're actually working with the company. You're not just blindly spreading links around the internet. So there's that, and then what happens is once a month or whatever the schedule is, again, this will vary from place to place. The company will send your commissions to you. Does it monthly. Any questions on what we've talked about so far? I know I have just breezed through the entire affiliate marketing process, but if I missed anything or if you have questions, just let me know in the chat. Happy to answer. Also, I'm curious if any of you guys have done anything like this before. The most common one that I hear about of course, is Amazon affiliates. Now with Amazon affiliates, can you earn money?
Yes, if you're lucky, you might add up to $10 or $15 ever because they pay out a teeny tiny, itty bitty percentage of any sales that come through your links. But still, if you're going to be referring people to a book on Amazon, you tell all your clients about some product for their kitchen, whatever, a spiralizer or a Vitamix, or actually Vitamix probably has their own affiliate program, but anyway, why not use that affiliate link even if you are just going to make very small percentage of the sale on Amazon, that's the most commonly known affiliate program. Amazon sells a lot, lot, lot, lot, but the commission is very little. If you go direct to the companies, that's where you'll find percentages more like 15%, 20% or higher. Now, there's a really cool thing that I've only encountered with Anne-Marie as well, as well as the team, and this is that not only can I tell you about my favorite products and share my affiliate link, but they put together exclusive offers for their affiliate partners that convert really, really well.
Think about it. What's more likely to happen? You tell someone about your favorite skincare line and then they buy a whole bunch of full size products at full price maybe. I mean that does happen, but what if instead you tell someone about your favorite skincare line and they buy a super no-brainer low-cost trial package and they love it so much that then they buy the full size product afterwards? To me it's like, okay, we know we have a quality product and this is smart, authentic, like transparent marketing. We want you to try it. If you love it, then go all in, right? This is a company that I'm happy to be associated with. Gaia is saying No affiliates for her so far are annemarie's product certified gluten-free by chance that I do not know. I will tell you this. If you go to the link that I sent you or that I mentioned earlier, rather healthcoachpower.com/skincare on that page, there's an area with the ingredients so you can, like they're very transparent about the ingredients in all of their products. So, you can look there and from there if you still had a question, you should go ahead and email them and they will get back to you.
That's a good question. I'm sorry I don't know the answer to it, off chance. The deal I have for all of you guys to check out these products to find out if they're gluten free or not? No. But for real, read the ingredient list. You're going to love it a lot. If you want to try them out, you're going to go to healthcoachpower.com/skincare and for just $19 and free shipping. By the way, free shipping in the US and Canada. It includes their aloe herb cleanser, which is super gentle. I use it all year long, their anti-aging serum. Now, I don't love the term anit-aging, so why don't we call it something like, yay, you're lucky enough to age serum for visibly firmer and toned skin. And also they're yay, you're lucky enough to age anti-aging oil, which is quick absorbing and weightless to use even in the summer. I love this stuff and you're going to be getting their sun love everyday sunscreen. This is a non nano zinc oxide formula. All of that to try out the pretty substantial size trials, so you get to use it more than once to see if you like it. Again, just $19 at free shipping at healthcoachpower.com/skincare.
Now, everything that I've shared about affiliate marketing today makes for a lovely bit of passive income. It is not as with basically everything in the health coaching world, it's not a get rich quick scheme.
I'm not here to tell you that you're going to make six figures being an affiliate marketer, blah, blah, blah. I don't think you want that kind of business anyway. But if you are consistently sharing your affiliate links when it makes sense to do so, and you're talking about the brands you love, it supports you as a health coach. It supports your clients, and yeah, it's going to add to your bottom line. So I want you to look for affiliate programs available with your favorite beauty products, your favorite healthy food products, kitchen tools, you name it. And let's have a great summer. I will see you guys next week. Thanks so much for being here.
